17th Century Dutch Landscape
Damaged by an accident in transit.
William Widgery: Watercolour of Dartmoor river scene. Previously damaged by
severe foxing and paper discolouration.
As well as painting pictures myself, I also enjoy restoring them.
I restore and conserve antique oil paintings, watercolours, prints and
engravings from the sixteenth to the twentieth century.
Detail of an early nineteenth century Viennese painting entitled "Good
Morning". Restored for Okehampton Town Council.
This fine painting had been damaged by flaking paint due to long-term
chemical effects associated with the use of bitumen black in the original.
The majority of paintings that come into my workshop are 19th century landscapes
or portraits in oils because this was the heyday of English art. I undertake all
levels of restoration of pictures, from slightly foxed prints through to
severely damaged oil paintings where sensitive retouching of the most delicate
features of a portrait may be required. If the frame is also a valuable antique
I will restore that also.
