Pause for Thought - Oil on Canvas
This picture of Amy, our eldest child, almost created itself the moment she appeared downstairs one June morning wearing a beautiful floral dress. It is a study of strong sunshine warming a cool interior, of light and reflected colour on a young woman's wonderfully smooth complexion, and of the playful juxtaposition of flower patterns and real flowers. And beyond the appeal of outward forms it is a study of personality and inwardness. I wanted to record the affection of a father for a much loved daughter.
