Jonathan was born on 30 April 1949 in Berkshire, England, and educated at Reading School and St John's College Oxford ... Both his parents were artists, having met and married as art students just after the War, so Jonathan has been painting from an early age. At different times he has also worked as an officer in Her Majesty's Armed Forces, an art teacher, a university lecturer in Africa, and as an orphanage manager, and pastor.
